JGK Enterprises LLC, D.B.A. John’s Gyro King Concessions, is a family run business, serving the finest foods at festivals, fairs, parties and all kinds of events.
Founded by John Fakelis in the late 1970’s, John’s Gyro King started as a series of restaurants in the Akron Canton area. In the early 1980’s John saw a need to service shoppers at the growing number of malls in the area since most malls did not have food courts. He and a couple of other vendors set up temporary international food shows at these malls. John sold what is now his locally famous Gyro Sandwiches. The food shows were an instant success and grew to several a year! In an effort to minimize the time spent setting up and tearing down for these events he built a mobile kitchen to drive right into the malls. This unit became his first concession trailer which then allowed him to start doing some outside events. He quickly realized the potential and closed his restaurants to focus solely on concessions. John focused on quality ingredients and treating each customer as if they were a guest in his home. You would always find John, as well as his wife and children, working each event year after year.
In 2008, John’s son Gus left his professional career to utilize his corporate skills and the lessons he learned working alongside his father. He expanded JGK from its humble beginnings to multiple units; which now service all types of events ranging from a few hundred people to tens of thousands.
